Hangikjöt (Hanging meat), is the name of the smoked leg of lamb, one of the most traditional food in Iceland, is usually eaten boiled with potatoes.
I wanted to bring to the tables of the modern habitants of Iceland and cherish old national habits, teaching people to eat that meat as a delicatessen, unboiled in thin slices, cut directly from the leg.
That has been done in my family for generations, and is a known tradition in the north of Iceland.
I made this stand in the shape of a simplified bone, holding up the leg in a hanging position, as the Hangikjöt is smoked hanging from the ceiling and gets it´s name from that process.
This way of eating Hangikjöt is now getting popular in Iceland.
